FAQ
Please see Scouts BSA Summer Experience and Adventure Day Camp for program-specific FAQ
What is Base Camp?
Base Camps are unique outdoor education adventure space. The program is owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America. Base Camps provide outdoor adventure for ALL families in addition to providing programs for Scouts. For over 100 years the Boy Scouts have been known for outdoor skills and leadership development. Now those programs are available to everyone. So bring your daughter, your husband, and your grandparents to enjoy an educational adventure!
What kind of activities do you have?
At Resolute Base Camp, our programs are open year-round! Although many activities are seasonal there is always something exciting going on at Base Camp. Depending on the season, you can climb the ropes course or ride the zip line, learn to shoot archery or throw tomahawks, go for a hike or climb across the monkey bridge. Prepare for the worst with wilderness survival training and perfect your camping and outdoor skills with activities like cooking, rope work, and woods tools.
Are parents required to attend with their child?
Our Outdoor Experience program is family friendly and a parent or guardian must attend with their child. At many activities, parents can participate with or along-side their child. Many activities are self-guided. At others, our staff will provide program instructions and safety oversight. However, parents or guardians are expected to accompany their child throughout Base Camp.
Are scouting units welcome?
Of course! Base Camp activities are based on the Scout curriculum and registered Cub Scout and Scout BSA participants can work on advancement requirements.
What ages are the activities geared to?
All our activities are age appropriate, yet everyone can do just about everything. There are activities perfect for elementary, middle and high school age youth. Almost all our activities are scaled to provide an achievable challenge.
Can we buy our lunch there? Or should I bring a lunch for everyone?
Resolute Base Camp does not provide food service at this time. You are welcome to bring snacks or a picnic lunch.
What else should I bring?
Make sure to dress appropriately for the weather – it’s an outdoor experience! And it’s critical to bring along a water bottle that can be safely refilled throughout the day.
Who operates Resolute Base Camp?
Resolute Base Camp is owned and operated by Mayflower Council, BSA
Can I work on staff?
We are always looking to build up our staff. If you are interested in education or the outdoors this is the job for you! We have weekend positions available. If you're interested in employment opportunities, please contact Mayflower Council: basecamp@campresolute.org.
Can I volunteer on staff?
We provide great volunteer opportunities at each Base Camp. All volunteers go through the same rigorous background checks and safety training as staff.
